Legal Terms & Conditions

Terms of Service

Last Updated: January 2026 | Effective for all users of FuneralMatch

1. Service Agreement

By using FuneralMatch, you acknowledge that we are an intermediary platform connecting families with funeral service providers. We vet directors for quality and transparency, but the final contract for funeral services is between you and the Funeral Director you select.

FuneralMatch is not liable for the performance of services provided by third-party funeral directors. However, we maintain strict vetting standards and will investigate any complaints about service quality.

2. User Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate information when using our platform. This includes details about the deceased, your contact information, and any special requirements for the funeral service.

You are responsible for verifying all details with your chosen funeral director before finalizing arrangements. While we provide price estimates, final costs should be confirmed directly with the provider.

3. Pricing & Payments

FuneralMatch is free for consumers. We charge Funeral Directors a referral commission or subscription fee for access to our platform. This does not affect the price you pay.

Our "Fair Price" guarantee ensures that prices shown on our platform are competitive and transparent. If you find a lower price for the same service from the same director, we will investigate and ensure pricing accuracy.

All payments for funeral services are made directly to the funeral director, not to FuneralMatch. We do not handle any financial transactions related to funeral services.

4. Intellectual Property

All content on the FuneralMatch platform, including text, graphics, logos, and software, is the property of FuneralMatch Ltd and protected by UK and international copyright laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

5. Limitation of Liability

FuneralMatch provides the platform "as is" and makes no warranties about the availability, accuracy, or reliability of the service. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform.

Our maximum liability to you for any claims related to the platform is limited to the amount you have paid to FuneralMatch (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim.

6. Dispute Resolution

If you have a complaint about a funeral director found through our platform, please contact us first at support@funeralmatch.com. We will work to mediate and resolve the issue. Any legal disputes will be governed by the laws of England and Wales.

7. Data Processing & Third Parties

When you submit an enquiry or booking request, your information is shared with the funeral director(s) you select. These providers act as independent data controllers for the information you provide to them.

We may also use trusted third-party services (payment processors, analytics providers, hosting services) who process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.

8. Cancellation & Refund Policy

Cancellation and refund policies are set by individual funeral directors, not by FuneralMatch. You should confirm cancellation terms directly with your chosen provider before finalizing arrangements.

FuneralMatch does not charge families for using the platform, so there are no FuneralMatch fees to refund. Any deposits or payments made are between you and the funeral director.

9. Provider Responsibilities

Funeral directors on our platform are expected to maintain accurate pricing, respond to enquiries promptly, provide services as described, and comply with all applicable regulations including CMA pricing transparency guidance.

Providers who fail to meet these standards may have their listings suspended or removed. However, FuneralMatch is not responsible for provider conduct or service delivery.

10. Consumer Rights

You retain all consumer rights under UK law, including rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. These rights apply to your contract with the funeral director.

If you believe a provider has breached consumer protection law or engaged in unfair practices, you may report this to Trading Standards or the Competition and Markets Authority in addition to contacting us.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users and posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
